“Europe must put an end to a form of naivety with regard to globalization”, argues Tuesday May 7 on France Inter Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally, while Chinese President Xi Jinping is on a state visit to France, and in particular to the Pyrenees on Tuesday. If the reception given to the Chinese leader is criticized by certain NGOs, the RN MEP considers for his part that he is “normal that two great nations which are intended to have influence in the 21st century can discuss, exchange, dialogue”. He therefore wishes to be mentioned “the question of the imbalance in trade relations between China and the European Union, [voire] between China and France.
Jordan Bardella qualifies “the European Union” an “anomaly in the world economy”. He in fact accuses him of having a form of “naivety in [ses] commercial agreements”. The president of the RN criticizes, for example, the “refusal of any reciprocity” in these agreements and highlights the fact that Beijing supports “very massively its companies [qui] are flooding European markets with heavily subsidized products.” “We have the feeling that today we are blind and naive in the face of very often unfair competition waged against our producers, our businesses and our interests.” he laments.
“A strategy to protect our interests”
The president of the far-right party therefore advocates “economic patriotism, national priority and European preference” to face what he considers to be a “absolutely major trade imbalance”. “I advocate a strategy of protecting our interests with targeted customs duties, when necessary, to protect against unfair international competition; national priority and European preference to give an advantage to those who produce in Europe in the “access to public markets and we must release the constraints weighing on the Europe of projects”adds Jordan Bardella.
