In the town of Autheuil-Authouillet (Eure), the project to build a Carrefour supermarket was not viewed very favorably by some residents. So, the town hall decided to organize a ballot and ask the Altoliens the question.
It is in front of an inn that the supermarket was planning to settle in the town of Autheuil-Authouillet (Eure). But Anne-Sophie Moinetmanager of the inn, believes that the land could have another use. “AT 5 km around, there are three grocery stores that complement each other. (…) We would like a nursing home, a DIY store”she explains. Faced with competition from the supermarket, residents want to support their traders.
Preserve local businesses
“We must not kill these small businesses, we need them“, says a resident against the supermarket project. Others are more mixed, and rely on the development of the municipality. Rather favorable to the project, the town hall still wanted to decide using an astonishing method. On June 25, residents were able to vote. Result : 222 against and 160 For. The results must still be discussed with the department and the community of agglomeration.
