The European Union (EU) announced on Saturday that it was coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, contributing to the delivery by air of medical supplies and protective equipment requested by Kiev.

This aid, provided by member states, “aims to support Ukraine’s efforts to prepare for all possible scenarios,” the European Commission said in a statement.
The aid includes disposable medical masks, sterile gloves, electric generators, antibiotics and disinfectants provided by Slovenia, Ireland, Romania and Austria.
France provides hundreds of tents, floor mats, blankets and sleeping bags, as well as “3,000 gloves” for so-called CBRN (“chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear”) protection and “an advanced medical post capable of to treat 500 wounded.
“As soon as Ukraine asked for our help, we worked around the clock to help the authorities,” said Janez Lenarcic, European Commissioner for Crisis Management.
“Immediate civil protection assistance is on the way. Slovenia, Romania, France, Ireland and Austria have already made the first offers and I expect further aid in the coming days from other EU member states,” he said. he added.
