The École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) announces its intention to establish itself in Longueuil, thus deploying activities outside its downtown Montreal campus for the first time.
In a press release published Friday, the School explains that it wants to respond to a need expressed by the Quebec government to benefit from its cooperative education model and its collaborative research with industry elsewhere in the province.
For its aerospace project in Longueuil, ÉTS will be able to count on partners such as the École nationale d’aérotechnique (ÉNA) and the Aerospace Technology Center (CTA), both affiliated with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit.
The general director and CEO of the École de Technologie Supérieure, François Gagnon, believes that the arrival of ÉTS in Longueuil and the presence of its partners will make it possible to strengthen the training and research ecosystem to form a center of excellence combining college and university education, research and innovation in aerospace.
For her part, the mayor of Longueuil, Catherine Fournier, maintains that the arrival of an institution like ÉTS is a strong signal of the positioning of Longueuil as an important academic center with post-secondary university and college establishments, in plus research centers.
The École de Technologie Supérieure has more than 70 industrial partners who support projects in materials and advanced manufacturing, avionics and controls as well as design and optimization.
