(Quebec) The official opposition is calling for an investigation and the suspension of a deputy minister who was close to François Legault.
The Press revealed Thursday that Stéphane Le Bouyonnec, former CAQ candidate and ex-president of the party, still has links with a usurious loan company.
A former executive of the company said that Mr. Le Bouyonnec would have to testify in court about questionable payments allegedly made to organized crime. The Canadian Press was unable to verify these allegations Thursday.
Mr. Le Bouyonnec is today deputy minister at the Ministry of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs.
In a press scrum Thursday morning, the leader of the official opposition, Marc Tanguay, sounded the alarm.
“What did François Legault know? » he asked.
He demanded an investigation and the suspension of Mr. Le Bouyonnec. According to the Liberal leader, the deputy minister cannot remain in office.
“I don’t really see how he can stay in office,” said MP Vincent Marissal of Québec Solidaire (QS) shortly after.
“It is up to his friend Mr. Legault, who appointed him there, to make the decisions. »
