Estrie | One dead and one injured in fire

(Frelighsburg) One person died and a second was injured during a fire caused by an explosion on Friday in Frelighsburg in Estrie.


Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC went to the scene of the fire that occurred in a residence on Chemin des Chutes, around 11:45 a.m. Friday, indicated Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson. word of the SQ.

“An explosion possibly caused this fire, injuring a man living at this address,” she said. The man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, but his life is not feared.

During the afternoon, emergency services were searching for a second person who was inside the residence.

“The firefighters discovered, shortly after 4 p.m., the inanimate body of the person who was missing, in the rubble of the fire,” said Mme Brochu-Joubert, early evening. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

An investigator and a fire scene technician went to the scene to shed light on this event.
