Estate of Boris Johnson | Liz Truss gets new weight support

(London) British Foreign Minister Liz Truss received new weighty support on Wednesday with that of her ex-health colleague Sajid Javid, and sees her comfortable lead confirmed by a new poll.

Liz Truss enjoys a 32-point lead over her opponent Rishi Sunak, while a previous YouGov study gave her 34 points ahead.

In a column published in the Times Wednesday evening, the former Minister of Health Sajid Javid, whose resignation in early July had triggered a hemorrhage of departures fatal to Boris Johnson, gave his support to Liz Truss.

“If we can renew our government with a bold agenda, the Conservatives can always beat” the opposition parties, Labor in the lead, and “Liz is best placed to do so,” said Sajid Javid.

This is the fifth endorsement from an ex-candidate for Liz Truss. Sajid Javid had ended up withdrawing for lack of sufficient support to obtain the number of sponsorships required.

If the two finalists have been chosen by a series of successive votes reserved for Conservative MPs, it is now up to party members – whose number is estimated at nearly 200,000 – to choose the successor to Boris Johnson, forced to resign following a series of scandals.

The announcement of the results of this postal vote is expected on 5 September.
