The grievances of elected officials did not move the commissioners responsible for redrawing the federal ridings. Est-du-Québec will lose a deputy in 2024.
Of the three current ridings, the east of the province will soon have only two. That of Avignon-La Mitis-Matane-Matapédia, currently represented by Bloc member Kristina Michaud, will be scrapped to be “redistributed” to neighboring ridings to the east and west. Mme Michaud was unavailable for comment on Wednesday 1er February, but is expected to speak tomorrow.
