Our journalists specialized in TV and cinema offer you some suggestions taken from the Netflix catalog.
Blonde hair
Inspired by a fictional biography published by Joyce Carol Oates some twenty years ago, Andrew Dominik interferes in the private spheres of Marilyn Monroe’s life, which are by definition undocumented. The filmmaker thus has the space required to invent his vision of things, not being required to be faithful to reality. Ana de Armas threw herself body and soul into the character, with the abandonment of the one who, like the icon in her time, aspires to the greatest scores.

The Crown, season 5
A tick below the fourth season which was phenomenal, the fifth delivery of The Crown, which covers the tumultuous period of the Windsors between the summer of 1991 and the beginning of 1997, turns out to be more salacious, sensationalist and less harmonious than the preceding ones. On the other hand, a weaker season of The Crown remains an entertainment of royal quality, in front of which it is almost necessary to make the reverence. It’s prestige TV crafted with keen attention to detail, if we exclude a few factual liberties taken by screenwriter Peter Morgan.

The Wonder
You have to be patient to know how to appreciate The Wonder. Immerse yourself in all the versions of reality that are suggested there. Lelio’s approach requires careful listening. Like Lib Wright at the bedside of the young miracle, you have to be content to observe attentively. Because the richness of the film lies in its subtext. Faithful to its most recent performances (Midsommar, Don’t Worry Darling), Florence Pugh captivates in the main role, resolutely feminist.

Falling for Christmas
Janeen Damian, who has written the screenplays for several romantic Christmas comedies, is in her first experience as a director. She knows all the codes and uses them thoroughly. It is of course necessary to abandon all critical sense. But for fans of the genre, this film is like a decadent dessert. It is too rich, but it does good and warms the heart.

All Quiet on the Western Front
Classically made, In the west, nothing is new obviously does not have the will to renew the genre of war drama, but it is extremely effective. We also welcome the approach of a filmmaker who knew how to evoke horror in a realistic way, without however falling into complacency. Edward Berger also knew how to construct the story in such a way as to offer the spectator a few moments of respite. Note also the presence of excellent young actors, whose relative anonymity on the international level helps to make the story even more authentic in our eyes.

FIFA Uncovered
Under the leadership of Joseph S. Blatter, FIFA became a monster of corruption which, after more than 30 years in office, including 17 as president, finally led to its downfall. This is what emerges from the documentary FIFA Uncovered. The series of four episodes does not teach us anything new. It is rather the succession of facts recalled and exposed, which have occurred over several decades, which sends shivers down the spine.

Uncoupled
Uncoupled is an eight-part comedy starring Neil Patrick Harris, a posh New York real estate agent who finds himself single overnight after his partner leaves him after 17 years together. Uncoupled,it’s a bit like Sex and the City cheerful version. We’re in uptown New York, and it’s about love and friendship.
