Emmanuel Macron came first in the first round of the presidential election this Sunday, April 10 with 28.1% of the vote, ahead of Marine Le Pen (23.3%). Jean-Luc Mélenchon did better than in 2012 and 2017 with a score of (20.1%), according to estimates from the Ipsos institute. The second round, organized on April 24, will once again oppose the outgoing president to the candidate of the National Rally.
What about Eric Zemmour? The candidate of the Reconquest party came in fourth place in this 2022 presidential election. Except that the polemicist finally won only 7% of the vote according to TF1 / Ifop. A low score far from his ambitions … Yet the far-right candidate had held a large meeting on Sunday March 27 at Place du Trocadéro in Paris, he had promised his supporters a presence in the second round of the presidential election and spoke of one “hidden vote”, which would propel him to the Elysée. Unfortunately for him, he will not see this second round.
However, he can console himself since he managed to get ahead of Valérie Pécresse, who was one of his objectives.
The former columnist of Laurent Ruquier had chosen the Mutualité room which had hosted Benoit Hamon in 2017 and Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012. Before he spoke, it was Marion Maréchal Le Pen, one of his supporters , who spoke following the results published around 8 p.m.: “Disappointment of course, but there is a party that has been installed. A door is open with, despite everything, victories that have been brought by Eric Zemmour.”
