Eric Zemmour is referred to the Paris Criminal Court for “public incitement to hatred or violence because of origin, ethnicity, nation, race or religion” and for “public insult because of origin, ethnicity, nation, race or religion”after comments made on CNews in 2021 and 2022 towards the Senegalese community, Franceinfo learned on Friday May 31 from a source close to the matter.

On May 13, 2021, Eric Zemmour said on CNews live in the show “Face à l’info”: “I did not say that all Senegalese are traffickers. I said all crack traffickers are Senegalese”. Then, on March 25, 2022, Eric Zemmour declared on CNews in the special show “Morandini Live” broadcast live: “Most crack sellers are illegal Senegalese, so obviously we do not say that all Senegalese are crack sellers […] However, most of the illegal immigrants come from Senegal and when I am president we will send them home, that’s an objective.”.

The association “La Maison des Potes-Maison de l’Egalité”, civil party in this case, recalls that the Paris prosecutor’s office finally requested the referral of Eric Zemmour to the criminal court last April for his comments after having, initially, closed the association’s complaint without further action, binding it “to refer the matter to the dean of the investigating judges”.

“La Maison des Potes” asks television and radio channels “to stop inviting Éric Zemmour into live broadcasts, since they know well that the far-right leader will take advantage of the live broadcast to commit new incitement to racist hatred”. Furthermore, the association announces that it is once again suing Eric Zemmour for “incitement to racist hatred against foreigners by accusing them of being responsible for all the deal points in France”after comments made on RMC on May 15 in Apolline de Malherbe’s show.
