As the electoral deadline approaches, the blows between the contenders for the Elysée multiply. The far-right candidate Eric Zemmour crushed, on Saturday February 12, his right-wing and center rival for the presidential election, Valérie Pécresse.

In a speech delivered in the afternoon in front of more than 3,000 people gathered in the small town of Saulieu (Côte-d’Or), the candidate of the Reconquête party urged voters to make the right choice in the first round. “between saving the LRs or saving the nation”. Eric Zemmour methodically attacked the economic and social program of candidate LR, portrayed as a centrist and spendthrift technocrat. “No, Valérie Pécresse is not on the right”he hammered, while the candidate must hold her first major campaign meeting in Paris on Sunday. “With Valérie Pécresse, you will not have Zemmour. You will not even have half of Zemmour. You will have a mask plastered on the face of technocracy” he also asserted.

According to the polls, the candidate Les Républicains, that of the National Rally Marine Le Pen and Eric Zemmour are in a pocket handkerchief for accession to the second round against outgoing President Emmanuel Macron, the latter being largely at the head of voting intentions.

Note that before the meeting of the candidate, the police had to intervene to put an end to scuffles between pro and anti-Zemmour, reports France Bleu Bourgogne. Some opponents of the candidate’s arrival had positioned themselves near the room where the meeting was to start at 3 p.m. and shouted at his supporters. The CRS intervened and used tear gas on the demonstrators.
