The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti will know on October 3 whether or not he is referred to the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) for “illegal taking of interest”, franceinfo learned from a source familiar with the matter on Wednesday 14 september. The investigative chamber of the CJR – the only one authorized to try ministers for offenses committed within the framework of their functions – will decide in three weeks.
A “settlement hearing” took place on Tuesday, September 6 before the investigating committee, in the presence of the minister’s lawyer and a representative of the general prosecutor’s office of the Court of Cassation, so that everyone could put forward their final arguments. , according to information from franceinfo.

Eric Dupond-Moretti has been indicted since July 2021 in this case, after complaints from the Anticor association, the Union Syndicale des Magistrates and the Syndicat de la magistrature. They accuse him of having taken advantage of his function as minister to settle accounts with three magistrates of the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) who had peeled his “fadettes” as part of an investigation into a case involving Nicolas Sarkozy and with a Monegasque judge.
