Visiting Guadeloupe for two days, the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, renewed Tuesday May 16 and Wednesday May 17 his promises of additional staff in the face of courts lacking resources. The Keeper of the Seals has indicated that the jurisdiction of Pointe-à-Pitre will count “four new magistrates” by September, which, according to the president of the judicial tribunal, Hélène Judes, “will complete the vacancies”.

Eric Dupond-Moretti announced the arrival in Guadeloupe of a coordinator responsible for facilitating the work of the support functions as well as computer technicians. He also recalled his ambition to facilitate access to the judiciary through the sustainability of contract jobs. The Minister also confirmed the hiring of 1,500 magistrates and 1,500 court clerks by 2027 in the country, provided for in the justice planning and orientation bill.

“The number of disputes is also increasing with us, we also badly need staff”, said Malika Deros, CGT delegate, in Basse-Terre, during an exchange with the minister. In particular, she raised the problems linked to the time difference with Paris, which makes it difficult to manage computer problems or participate in the training of judicial staff provided at the time of the capital.
