Éric Duhaime will try to win the riding of Chauveau

Éric Duhaime believes that his chances of winning are in Chauveau. Like former Conservative leader Adrien Pouliot in recent years, he will try to gain the confidence of voters in the northern riding of Quebec in the 2022 general election.

This was confirmed The dutyMonday. The Journal of Quebec reported this information first in the morning. Mr. Duhaime invited his activists to an announcement on Tuesday in La Haute-Saint-Charles. “I can’t wait to see you in the flesh,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

In an interview at the start of the year, the new leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) agreed that he wanted to run “where [il a] most likely”. “These are good ridings for us,” he said when asked about a handful of counties on the capital’s south and north shores.

Historically, Chauveau voted with all colors. The current MP, Sylvain Lévesque, represents the Coalition avenir Québec, but it is also there that Gérard Deltell was chosen for the first time as elected member of the Action Démocratique du Québec. The Liberal Party of Quebec and the Parti Québécois swapped seats from the 1970s to the mid-2000s.

After his election as leader of the PCQ in 2013, Adrien Pouliot ran twice in Chauveau. He obtained respective scores of 5% and 8.6% in 2015 and 2018. His successor will try to succeed where he did not in the election scheduled for the fall.
