Already winner of the Première plume prize, which aims to highlight emerging authors, the first novel by Éric Chacour, What I know about you, continues to collect honors across the Atlantic. The Quebec writer was awarded the Discovery Grant from the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation on Tuesday.
Created in 2001, this scholarship rewards a French-speaking author for their first work of fiction. This annual prize, in the amount of 12,000 euros, or approximately $17,000, is offered by the Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation.
Published last January by Éditions Alto in Quebec and Éditions Philippe Rey in France, the novel traces the journey of Tarek, a doctor forced to go into exile from Egypt to Montreal because of a forbidden love.
