Éric and Ramzy discuss with Augustin Trapenard

On the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival 2023, Éric and Ramzy are jurors of the TikTok Short Film Festival. “All the artists who sent their film, obviously, it’s an important step for them” explains Ramzy. Launched last year, this competition allows those who wish to make a short video (over a minute) on the TikTok social network. Forty videos are selected based on number of views and level of engagement. The jury rewards the three best videos.

“We are a largely corruptible jury”

“We are a highly corruptible jury. Me, I think that if they had really given me money to promote a film, I would have taken it” comments Eric. When he discovers a film, feature or short, he pays particular attention to the emotion it causes him. “Me, it’s the complete opposite. I only look at the sets, only the extras. emotion…” jokes Ramzy.

What makes them both laugh in the movies is without hesitation”foolishness”. “We built our humor on it” says Eric. Their duo has been working for more than 30 years now. When they remember their first meeting, laughter comes to mind. “We made each other laugh to the point of lying on the floor” recalls Ramzy.
