Eric Abidal met his wife Hayet in Lyon when he was a child. First friends, they were both passionate about sport. As a teenager, he began to practice football within AS Monaco while she participated in several high-level gymnastics championships. Their relationship officially began in the early 2000s. Seven years later, they married and began to start a family. The couple gave birth to five children: Meliana in 2004, Camelia in 2006, Leyna in 2009, Kenya in 2016 and Edan in 2017.
In 2011, the young woman of Franco-Algerian origin supports the athlete when he is diagnosed with a liver tumor. Operated urgently two days later and after an operation lasting several hours, he underwent a transplant. He thought he was out of business but relapsed the following year in 2012.
But while we thought Eric and Hayet extremely welded after all the hardships they went through, the young woman recently decided to divorce her husband. And for good reason, Eric Abidal confessed to him having had an extra-marital relationship with one of the players of PSG, Kheira Hamraoui.
Simple assault or ambush?
Assaulted on the night of November 4, 2021 in the Paris region, Kheira Hamraoui was violently beaten in the legs. Treated at Poissy hospital, the footballer was prescribed 6 days of ITT and a three-week work stoppage. It was after this assault that her affair with Eric came to light. Indeed during the investigation, the police realized that Kheira Hamraoui’s phone chip was in the name of the former leader of FC Barcelona: Eric Abidal.
She would also have called him the day after his attack to find out if his wife Hayet could be at the origin of his attack. According to the first hearings relayed by The team, Kheira Hamraoui and Aminata Diallo (present during the attack) have both confirmed having heard the attackers say: “So like that, we sleep with married men ? ”
If the footballer’s wife denies being at the origin of this attack, she quickly filed for divorce from her husband. Bitterly regretting his infidelity, the sportsman tried to win back his ex by sending him a declaration of love on Instagram: “Hayet Abidal forgive me. Whatever your decision, you will remain in my eyes the woman of my life, and especially the mother of our wonderful children. I deserve this humiliation even though it kills me alive. El hamdouli’allah. An sha’allah one day you will forgive me“.
