Monique de Marco, environmentalist senator from Gironde, vice-president of the education, culture and media committee, advocated on Saturday April 20 on franceinfo a “clash of means” rather than a “clash of knowledge” who is “a government tool to destroy public schools”.

The Sgen-CFDT teachers’ union and five environmentalist parliamentarians have filed appeals before the Council of State against the middle school level groups in French and mathematics planned for the government for the next school year.

According to the senator, the level groups are “contrary to the fundamental principles of the education code, but also to the civil service code”. In a press release, the Sgen-CFDT considers, for its part, that the measure “contradicted” L’“autonomy of establishments” provided for by the education code concerning “modalities of differentiation” in learning.

Unacceptable sorting

THE “sorting students is unacceptable”estimates Monique de Marco. “This reform is dangerous for our Republic. It institutionalizes social sorting by separating students. We will therefore worsen educational inequalities to the detriment of the working classes”, she denounced. To help students in difficulty, “you have to have the means” And “Currently, we do not have any additional resources since there has not been a shock of resources for education”explains the senator.

According to her, “the start of the school year, after the Easter holidays, will be decisive”. Monique de Marco hopes “a start from the government, Gabriel Attal and the Minister of National Education”.
