“I’m not afraid of death. If I have to die, I will die.” Environmental activist Thomas Brail threatened, Thursday September 21, in Release, to start a thirst strike from Monday to denounce the project to build a motorway between Toulouse-Castres. Installed in a tree in front of the Ministry of Ecological Transition in Paris, this representative of the opponents of the A69 has already been on hunger strike since the beginning of September.
“I’m not looking to live a long life, I just want when I leave this planet, my kid will say to himself: ‘Dad, he changed the lines.'”

The activist was received on Tuesday afternoon by the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune. “We are calling for the suspension of work until the appeals on the merits are judged. The minister remains firm in his positions. Nothing is moving, but we remain hopeful”he declared at the end of this meeting.
Various appeals have been lodged against the A69, but none have been successful at this stage. Opponents are now counting on a request to the Toulouse administrative court and an appeal filed with the Council of State to obtain the suspension of the construction site. “The A69 is a project initiated a long time ago and strongly supported by local elected officials, of all political stripes”argues the Ministry of Transport.
