Restricting yourself in water and sorting your food waste is another habit that you will have to adopt. From next year, compost will be mandatory everywhere in France. Already, local authorities are raising awareness, explaining and training the inhabitants.

The new organic waste sorting bin is starting to be distributed everywhere in France, such as in a building in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine)near Paris. It is in a container that you will be obliged, next year, to put your leftover food. The reception is quite positive. I think we absolutely have to reduce our waste”says a resident. No refusal was met that morning to install this new trash can.

Food scraps make up a third of garbage cans

However, many questions: what should we throw in this bio bucket? Peelings of fruits and vegetables, but still. In Marnes-la-Coquette (Hauts-de-Seine)we have been separating food waste for three years now. 98% residents participate in the project. Sorting that makes sense. These food scraps represent a third of our traditional trash cans. This sorting does not cost more to the inhabitants for the moment. The household waste collection tax has not increased. Collected twice a week, this waste must be taken to a methanisation centre.
