An article published on a blog affirms that the ministry of Environment and Climate Change Canada intends to create a “police of the climate” and that a building, intended to shelter firearms, is under construction. This information has been formally denied by Environment Canada.
The famous text, which quickly went viral on social media, was posted on August 23 on the blog “The Counter Signal”.
He claims that the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is building a new facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba to house no more and no less than “a firearms warehouse, interrogation rooms, biological laboratories, media relations offices, “controlled silent rooms” and intelligence facilities”.
“Architectural plans were leaked to The Counter Signal, revealing Trudeau’s plans to militarize the climate change agenda.”
The author also alleges that the department would seek to hire “pollution officers” to enforce the federal government’s Impact Assessment Act.
“If you emit too much carbon or use too much fertilizer, you may be blacklisted by climate communists,” it says.
This law, adopted in 2019 by the federal government, aims to strengthen controls related to the environment and other social factors – such as gender parity and the impact on indigenous communities – concerning construction projects. wingspan.
“Setting the Facts”
On Twitter, Environment Canada said it was aware of these “misleading publications”.
“[Elles] suggest that we are creating a new law enforcement function. This is false and it is necessary to set the record straight,” reads a series of tweets published on September 1.
“Our Enforcement Branch is not new. It was officially created in 2008. Our officers enforce many federal environmental laws that prevent pollution and protect wildlife and biodiversity in Canada.”
Environment Canada has assured that these officers “are not climate change law enforcement officers.”
“Wildlife officers enforce laws like the Species at Risk Act to protect many of Canada’s most valuable species,” it said, adding that the department “is in the process of hiring new officers to maintain its current workforce.
As for the new building, Environment Canada has indicated that it is indeed “in the process of moving”.
“Our agents and other employees are leaving the office currently located in Winnipeg. The floor plans shared on social media do exist, but the description of the facility is completely wrong.”
Following Environment Canada’s reaction, “The Counter Signal” replied with a second article, claiming that ECCC “confirmed the authenticity of the documents” published on their site, but completely omitting the part where Environment Canada qualifies false all text content.
