Because he never does anything halfway, Kid Cudi launched his eighth album, Entergalactic, with an animated film of the same name that illustrates the music. The album can exist without the film, but takes on its full meaning thanks to the images.

Kid Cudi said in an interview that several songs on his most recent album were written from the film character’s perspective. The artist talks about love and relationships, not as Scott (his real name), but rather as Jabari, the protagonist of the feature film he directed with producer Kenya Barris (Black-ish).
A concept album as well thought out as it is executed is always welcome. And Kid Cudi excels in the art of offering a work that transcends sounds and rhymes (the trilogy Man on the Moon is the ultimate proof). Beyond the music, there is the story. Here on Entergalacticthat of a young man who is afraid of love, but who sees himself changed by a deep and unexpected story.
In the lyrics, a universal feeling, which has nothing complex, but which Kid Cudi expresses with the dexterity that we know him. The verses are fluid, rhythmic, the rapper is impeccable. It’s not Cudi’s finest work. But it’s one of his most popular projects. fun. That’s what this album is all about: a moment of pleasure, in rap, R&B and a touch of electro.
The lyrics and music aren’t too complex either, yet everything is beautifully done, especially in terms of production. Ty Dolla Sign (also featured in the film), 2 Chainz and Don Toliver are on the record, lending their voices to productions from Plain Pat, Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Dot da Genius and several other high-caliber producers.
Note here that the animated film Entergalactic, streaming on Netflix, is also worth watching. Kid Cudi plays the character of Jabari, Jessica Williams, the woman he loves, and Timothée Chalamet, his best friend. Touching and amusing, the feature film is a perfect complement to the musical work.
