Ensemble Montréal calls for four judicial recounts

It is the turn of Ensemble Montreal to request a judicial recount in boroughs with tight results following the municipal elections, citing “errors during the recount”.

The party officially asked Monday afternoon that there be a recount for the town halls of the boroughs of Côte-des-Neiges – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles. The districts of La Pointe-aux-Prairies and Loyola are also contested.

“Ensemble Montréal has reasonable grounds to believe that errors were made during the counting of certain polling stations during municipal elections,” said the director general, Sébastien Lachaine, in a press release.

Gracia Kasoki Katahwa had caused the surprise by winning against Lionel Perez as mayor of Côte-des-Neiges – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce thanks to a lead of 212 votes. The outgoing mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Caroline Bourgeois, for her part retained her seat by 303 votes.

Projet Montréal, for its part, announced last Thursday that it had filed two originating applications to obtain a legal recount for the town hall of Outremont as well as for the position of councilor for the district of Tétreaultville, in Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
