A huge hole revealing an underground beach has appeared in the cliffs of Whitburn, near Sunderland, in the north-east of England.
Erosion and landslides created this chasm measuring 40 feet (12,192 m) wide.
The sea forced its way through a crack in a cliff wall. The natural phenomenon called “Souter Hole” first appeared in 2003, but has grown in size every year since.
