Various Honda and Toyota models are being targeted by two recall campaigns to correct separate defects that affect vehicle hoods and engine block heaters.
Concerning Honda, 51,325 copies were affected by a recall for a problem with fixing the front cover. “The hood latch bolt on some vehicles could separate from the hood,” said in the Transport Canada recall sheet. This could obviously have unfortunate consequences, namely its unexpected opening on the motorway with the consequences that you can imagine. The Passport (2019), Pilot (2016 to 2019) and Ridgeline (2017 to 2020) models are the focus of this recall. The owners will be notified by mail.
On the Toyota side, it is a faulty engine block heater in 51,373 vehicles that will force their owners to stop at the manufacturer’s dealerships. The cable used “could not be adequately protected against heat and be damaged by high temperatures”, it is specified, which increases the risk of short circuit and, if necessary, of fire. The model list is very long and covers Lexus, Scion and Toyota from 2001 to 2020 model years as well. Once again, owners will be notified by letter.
