The leaders of Engie, EDF and TotalEnergies signed a column in the JDD, Sunday June 26, in which they call on the French to reduce their electricity consumption.

An unprecedented alarm signal has been launched by the three giants French Energy : Engie, EDF and TotalEnergies. They call on individuals and businesses to immediately reduce their consumption of oil, gas and electricity. “The effort must be immediate, collective and massive. Every gesture counts”they shared in the JDD Sunday, June 26. A necessity, according to them, to avoid a shortage of energy next winter.

With the war in Ukraine, Russian gas is running out, and imports from other countries do not completely compensate for it. To reduce its consumption, the Ecological Transition Agency has given some advice: lowering the heating by one degree makes it possible to reduce 7% its consumption, and close shutters help to keep the heat. In business, it is advisable to prefer laptops to fixed workstations, to save 80% electricity, but also to turn off the lights in the shop windows or reception halls at night.
