The French are worried following the announcement by Gazprom, which confirmed the cessation of gas deliveries in the country. “What does this mean for us, private customers? However, nothing to worry about, assures the French gas supplier: there will be no cuts for individuals, because they will be able to count on the strategic gas stocks filled to date at 90% and on other supplier countries, Norway and Algeria in particular.
Nevertheless, we will have to be careful and adapt over time, warns Sophie Méritet, economist at Paris Dauphine University: “We must not stop at this winter, it is not because we have managed to fill our storage terminals that next winter we will not have the same problem.” There is also the question of prices. The bill is, for the moment, contained thanks to the tariff shield, but the government is already preparing the French for a rise in the price of gas next year.
