Nearly 70% of Quebecers fear a rise in energy prices as winter approaches, according to a poll released Thursday by HelloSafe.

On this subject, Quebecers are more worried than the national average (67.7%).
About 80% of respondents in Quebec indicated that they were in favor of a government energy rate freeze, but 60.5% were opposed to financial assistance in the form of a “cheque”.
Nearly 62% of respondents said they planned to reduce their energy consumption this winter, to compensate for a possible increase. Also, 32.4% said they were ready to install new generation, less energy-consuming appliances, while 18.5% plan to turn to greener energies.
Only 9.8% of Quebecers said they would consider changing energy supplier to pay less, much less than at the national level (14.8%).
The survey was conducted during the month of October 2022 among 1068 Canadians.
