Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, was the guest of “4V” on France 2, Wednesday September 21.
The tariff shield will be modified from 2023, with in particular an increase in electricity and gas prices which will be capped at 15%. Is this a commitment for the whole year 2023? “It will depend on the evolution of electricity and gas prices. The increase that is announced is 15% in January, compared to the 110, 120% that the French would have had to undergo if we had not had not set up this energy shield“, highlighted Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, guest on the set of “4V” on France 2, Wednesday September 21.
With regard to fuel, a discount of 10 centimes per liter will be applied from 1 November. But will there still be pump discounts in January? “The method is always the same: to protect our compatriots (…). Today, fuel prices are down (…). If things continue like this, there is no reason to provide additional aid from January 1”, said the minister. Moreover, for the latter, the fact that energy prices are so high on the European market is not “not normal”. “These prices are totally abnormal, delusional and dangerous for our economy (…). There is absolute urgency for a certain number of companies which are confronted with the explosion of their energy bill”, he denounced. The government will therefore try to obtain “a revision of the European market which will bring down energy prices”.
