Candy making consumes a lot of energy. So the mark Haribolocated in the Gard, is looking for solutions to reduce its consumption without altering the quality of the products.
Sour, colorful candies, colors and textures refer to the most tender childhood of all visitors. A factory produces 2.5 million candies a day. But production is energy-intensive. Thus, thehe company has decided to limit its consumption to reduce its footprint on the planet and its bills. “2023 is more than ten million euros in energy costs, so 10% quickly adds up to more than a million euros in energy savings”explains Pascal Barnard, industrial director of Haribo France.
The objective is to achieve 25% savings in five years. To achieve this, the factory has invested in more modern machinery. To prevent heat loss, the technicians even insulated the pipes with mattresses. It is difficult to save on manufacturing itself. The company therefore focused on the “sides”. Visitors to the factory are illuminated by LED projectors and at night all the lights go out, even the animation screens.
