All water restrictions are lifted in the Haut-Rhin from October 7restrictions that were in place for several weeks in the department.
It rained a lot during the last 15 days of September, allowing “significantly improve the flow of the rivers of the department and increase the humidity of the soil”, notes the Haut-Rhin prefecture. She adds that water requirements have fallen sharply with lower temperatures.
However, the Haut-Rhin prefecture is calling for people to be economical with water. “Saving water must be a daily concern for all users of the department. Everyone can adopt simple actions throughout the year to reduce their water consumption, for example limiting the watering of lawns , washing vehicles, prefer showers to baths.” Local authorities are encouraged to limit leaks on the networks. And the Haut-Rhin prefecture is asking farmers to“anticipate the necessary adaptations to climate change by favoring water-saving irrigation methods as well as cropping systems that consume less water and are less sensitive to dry spells.”
In the Lower Rhine, several areas are still on alert
