The investigations into three murders committed between 2010 and 2014 and over which looms the shadow of the “carbon tax” scammer Arnaud Mimran are now complete, franceinfo learned on Friday March 8 from a source close to the case. The investigating judges had already closed their investigation in September 2023 but Arnaud Mimran’s lawyer had requested new investigative actions, thus extending the investigations by six months. They notified the various parties of the end of the investigations this Friday.

In this long-term investigation, the magistrates of the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Paris “joined” three cases, placing Arnaud Mimran, figure of the “carbon tax” scam, at the center of them. Arnaud Mimran, convicted in 2016 for “the fraud of the century” and in 2022 for the kidnapping of a Swiss banker, is currently incarcerated.

Indicted for complicity in the assassination of billionaire Claude Dray

In 2021, he was indicted for complicity in the investigation into the assassination of his former father-in-law, billionaire Claude Dray in 2011, as well as for organized gang murder after the murder of Samy Souied – another figure of the “carbon tax” – in 2010 and the death of Albert Taieb in 2014, with investigators leaning towards a mistake by the killer who had the wrong target. Arnaud Mimran disputes his involvement, recalls his lawyer contacted Friday by franceinfo. In the investigation into the murder of Samy Souied, two other suspects were indicted and placed in detention before being released and placed under judicial supervision.

Concerning the end of the investigation, it is now up to the Paris prosecutor’s office to make its final indictment, before the investigating judges decide to hold a possible trial afterwards.
