Montpellier strolled in Brest (0-4), during the 18th day of Ligue 1, Saturday 11 December. The Hérault people ended the Bretons’ series of six league victories, in addition to temporarily approaching the podium. The MHSC is fourth with 28 points while Brest is stopped in its recovery, and is found in twelfth place (24 points).
The Montpelliérains knocked out the Finistériens just before half-time thanks to Elye Wahi (45th + 1), scorer for the third time in three games. Upon returning from the locker room, the Stade Brestois collapsed. Stephy Mavididi with a half-volley (47th) and Junior Sambia, well served by Valère Germain (60th), dampened the hopes of their opponents. Entered at the break in place of the first scorer Wahi, Germain went from his goal five minutes from time (85th).

Despite a burst of pride in the middle of the second period, the Bretons saw their series of six consecutive wins in Ligue 1 stopped by realistic Montpellierers (4 goals on 4 shots on target). Back in Francis-le-Blé, MHSC coach Olivier dall’Oglio (Brestois from 2019 to 2021) played a bad trick on his former club.
The MHSC wins for the third consecutive time in Ligue 1 after Metz (3-1) and Clermont (1-0) and is approaching third place in the standings occupied by Marseille. Sunday, OM will travel to Strasbourg, Nice to Rennes and Lyon to Lille.
