Stade Lavallois supporters expected a lot from this Maine derby played on a Sunday afternoon at Le Mans. And they were more than 450 to have made the trip to the MMArena, under a big blue sky.
Unfortunately, Tango fans left disappointed. Their team lost 2-0 after a game where everyone had their half time. In the first period, the Laval residents got chances through Sébastien Da Silva (three times) and Julien Maggiotti (post). The two teams return to the locker room back to back.
Laval reduced to 10, Le Mans too
The second period is totally to the advantage of the Sarthois. A performance below the usual level of the Mayenne. And Le Mans, conversely, played well. Opening the score then doubling the bet by the same Macalou. Between the two goals, Laval suffered the severe expulsion of its defender Kévin Perrot who found a place of holder. At 2-0, Le Mans also saw the expulsion of its midfielder, Loïc Damour.
This defeat ends an incredible eight-game away win streak. And also ends a series of eight consecutive matches without losing.
With one point taken in two matches, Stade Lavallois will have to bounce back next Saturday at home against Créteil (penultimate). Monday evening, Annecy has the opportunity to regain third place by receiving Orleans.
The reaction
The Laval coach, Olivier Frapolliknew that this series would end one day “but it was not the right day“.
