Grimacing when he left the field on Wednesday in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League between Dortmund and PSG, Parisian Lucas Hernandez will miss the end of the season. The capital club announced in a press release on Thursday, May 2, that its central defender suffered from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, confirmed by an MRI. He is going to have surgery “in the coming days” and will be forfeited for the Euro with the Blues (from June 14 to July 14).
The 2018 world champion was injured while trying to intervene to prevent Borussia striker Niclas Füllkrug from scoring, in vain. On Instagram, his teammate in Paris and captain of the French team, Kylian Mbappé, gave him his support: “My warrior, a new difficult test but you will never be alone, we are all with you. Big strength my brother”. Lucas Hernandez had already suffered the same injury, but to his right knee, during the first match of the 2022 World Cup against Australia.
