After other companies in the retail sector, it is now the turn of METRO and its various banners to eliminate plastic bags.

The company announced Thursday that its stores will stop offering single-use plastic bags, starting in September, in an effort to reduce over-packaging.
“Our ambition is to optimize our packaging and printed matter by reducing their use, by designing them in an optimal way, by choosing eco-responsible materials and by facilitating their recovery and recycling”, explained Marie-Claude Bacon, Vice-President of Business public and communications at METRO.
According to Ms. Bacon, this decision “will make it possible to avoid the circulation of more than 330 million plastic bags annually”.
