United States: end of actors’ strike in Hollywood
United States: end of the actors’ strike in Hollywood – (FRANCEINFO)
After 118 days of strike, Hollywood actors obtained an agreement, which notably includes an increase of almost 8% in minimum wages, Wednesday November 8.
Relieved and satisfied, the Hollywood actors posed in front of Warner studios, near Los Angeles (United States). After 118 days of strike, they reached an agreement on a new collective agreement on Wednesday November 8. This notably includes an increase of around 8% in minimum salaries and, for the first time, a system of bonuses proportional to the success of the film or series on streaming platforms.
Protection against artificial intelligence
“One of the important things (obtained by the actors) is this protection against artificial intelligence, which is coming”, confides an actor. With the dazzling progress of artificial intelligence, actors feared that they could be replaced, without their consent, by digital avatars. A month and a half after the end of the screenwriters’ movement, it’s a huge relief for the studios, as this historic double strike cost the Hollywood industry $6 billion.
