Despite the 26-8 defeat against Toulouse, CA Brive organized, as is customary at the end of each season, its farewell ceremony for players who leave the club. Each player who leaves the club therefore received a frame with his photo and a large “Thank you”. The ceremony, although delayed by the invasion of the field at the end of the match, gave rise to some clarifications concerning the future workforce of CAB.
Among the oldest players, Soso Bekoshvili, six seasons with the CAB, was very moved when removing his frame. The same applies to Thomas Acquier and Victor Lebas. The latter, trained at the club (“arrived with the mini chicks” even the coach will say) took the floor to thank all the supporters for their support during these long years. “It’s not a farewell, but a goodbye” finished the second line who will join Oyonnax next season in Pro D2.
Among the other honored players, we can mention that of the third center line So’otala Fa’aso’o. The player, who is leaving to join the London Irish next season, received a tribute from one of his compatriots at CAB, Motu Matu’u.
Several players have also been honored for their seasons with the club and will leave without having found a place to fall. This is particularly the case of Steevy Cerqueira. The Portuguese player has been little used this season. He had already expressed his frustration at not playing so much at the microphone of France Bleu: When it’s been a year that you’ve been training all the time and you’re not being rewarded and you’re not playing on weekends…well, after a while, I think of myself.”
Winger Pierre Tournebize will not be kept by Brive either, like Georgian international fly-half Tedo Abzhandadze, who arrived from Georgia in Brive. Otar Giorgadze is also leaving the club. These three players, some of whom were returning from injuries, had struggled to make their way behind Fa’aso’o, Bituniyata and Hervé.
Also on the front line, CA Brive is losing men. It was first the pure Brive Simon-Pierre Chauvac who left Brive. The rumor would send him to Montpellier. Right prop Cody Thomas will also be leaving the club. The South African who plays with Portugal will join a former Brive player, Nicolas Godignon, at the head of the Rouen club, which has remained in Pro D2.
Finally, three Fijians leave Corrèze. In the three-quarter line, there is first Seva Galala, injured in the knee this season and who should join Montauban. In the forward package, hooker Peni Narisia and third line Kitione Kamikamica should land in the Paris region, at Racing 92.
