The excellent musical score of the Disney animated film Encanto ousted Adele this week at the top of the Billboard. The British singer had been enthroned at number one for six weeks.
Released in mid-November, the album whose songs are signed Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) had made a discreet entry on the charts on December 11 in 197e position. But in six weeks, driven by the success of pieces like We Don’t Talk about Bruno (36 million downloads on Spotify), it has quietly climbed to number one.
The last time the soundtrack of an animated film found its way to the top of the Billboard was in 2019, for Frozen II. But this is only the sixth time that an animated film has achieved this position since 1956.
