[EN IMAGES] Exit from the road in Charlevoix: a 16-year-old teenager electrocuted, the 17-year-old driver arrested while impaired

A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted after going off the road overnight from Thursday to Friday in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, in Charlevoix.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers were called around 11:30 p.m. by calls to 911 for a road trip that occurred on Gabrielle-Roy Road.

The driver who lost control of his vehicle violently hit an electric pole before ending up in a wooded area.

The driver of the vehicle and his two passengers were transported to a hospital center, where the death of one of the two passengers was confirmed.

According to initial findings, the 16-year-old lost his life after being electrocuted while he was outside the vehicle after the accident.

Regarding the driver of the vehicle and his other passenger, there is no fear for their lives, according to the spokesperson for the SQ, Hélène St-Pierre.

The 17-year-old driver was arrested for impaired driving, but released pending the results of proceedings that could lead to charges.

An investigator and a reconstructionist were dispatched to the scene to try to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
