In personal assistance services, there is a significant shortage, particularly in rural areas. Employers are struggling to recruit employees.
In Amiens (Somme), Alexandra Penant, secretary of the ADMR association, continues to withdraw from carers. Between departures and work stoppages, a third of the 35 employees are missing, while 250 beneficiaries await their arrival every day. Fewer staff means a disrupted schedule for those who stay. Déborah Bonny, home help for eight years, has to work more, for a salary that remains low: “not even 1,000 euros per month”for between 112 and 120 hours.
In Jarnac (Charente), the association is attempting a seduction operation in front of a supermarket. She highlights the facilities offered, in particular to mothers, who do not start their day until 9 a.m. Employment contracts have also increased. “We offer 130 hours, 140 hours, 151 hours”, explains Anne-Laure Willaumez-Guillemeteau, president of the ADMR association in Charente. In addition, there is a service vehicle and a fuel card. In Charente, a dozen contracts have been signed. Thousands of jobs remain to be filled, throughout France.
