“The government said it was ready to do anything, so I would say to Mr. Legault, stop doing anything, then sign the agreement that we are offering you, that’s the best something for the students to do!” argued the president of the FAE, Mélanie Hubert, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

The president was thus referring to comments made the day before by the Prime Minister, who had called for an end to the strike “for the good of the children”, comments immediately described by the union side as “emotional blackmail”.

Following these exchanges, Mme Hubert still deplores Mr. Legault’s rhetoric.

“Our teachers and the school system have been holding out for years because we make women who give their heart and soul to school feel guilty,” she criticizes.

“This idea of vocation and taking care of children is what led us to a dead end. Yesterday the government was still doing that. He would never have done that to people from the SQ or the firefighters. We do this because we are women and we play on this string. We found it deplorable,” she still insists.
