Emotion and misunderstanding in Paulnay after a carnage of fish caused by an act of vandalism

Hundreds of dead fish in the mud. This is the image of desolation now presented by a 4-hectare pond located in Paulnay and which was still full of water last Saturday (27/08) in the middle of the day. But in the evening an evil hand came operate the drain valve to fully open it. The next day, the owners of the pond could only see the damage, a dry pond and hundreds of asphyxiated dead fish. Information revealed this Wednesday evening by our colleagues from the New Republic, which we were able to confirm.

An unprecedented act of malevolence

Beyond the financial damage – 800 kilos of fish, i.e. between 3000 and 4000 euros lost – It is above all these images of carnage that shock the operators for whom fish farming is only a complementary activity. Installed for 20 years, they had never experienced the slightest problem. It is therefore a total incomprehension in the face of this act which also occurs in the context of a record drought. In addition to fish, it is also a whole terrestrial fauna that came to drink from this pond and also finds itself deprived of this water point.

Two complaints have been filed with the gendarmerie, one for invasion of the home, the other for “damage to the property of others. An investigation has been opened.
