Emmanuelle Mignon, former advisor to Nicolas Sarkozy, appointed vice-president of the party

This 55-year-old woman will be responsible in particular for establishing “the project” of the party with a view to the European elections in June 2024.

A former Sarkozyist to support Eric Ciotti. Emmanuelle Mignon has just been appointed vice-president of the Republicans (LR) in “in charge of ideas and the project”. At 55, thex-chief of staff of Nicolas Sarkozy takes on these new functions “on the initiative” from the president of LR, Eric Ciotti.

In an interview given to Figaro, Emmanuelle Mignon wants “reconstruct a political offer” which allows the right toloosen your jaw [entre le RN et le macronisme]without falling into catastrophism”she predicts. This appointment “gives new impetus” to the party, greeted François-Xavier Bellamy, the leader of the LR MEPs, to AFP.

In January 2022, Emmanuelle Mignon was sentenced to six months in prison for favoritism and embezzlement of public funds through negligence in the Elysée poll affair.
