Emmanuel Macron’s first words after the announcement of the results of the 2022 presidential election

Sunday April 24, Emmanuel Macron was re-elected as President of the Republic with nearly 58.8% of the vote against Marine Le Pen, 41.2% according to the first estimates. “What a beautiful story. Who would have believed it?”, said the one who will offer himself a second consecutive term. The re-elected president then landed on the Champ de Mars with Brigitte Macron and the children of his campaign members, to the sound of Beethoven, Hymn to Joy, the European anthem. Then he presented himself in front of his supporters, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. “I know what I owe you”he said in particular. “I am no longer the candidate of one camp but the president of all”he continued. “This vote obliges me”he said. “I know that many compatriots voted for me not to support the ideas that I hold but to block those of the extreme right”.

In his speech, the man who became the third president to win a second term, under the Fifth Republic, after François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, promised a “redesigned method” to govern France. “This new era will not be the continuity of the five-year term which is ending” calling to be “caring and respectful” in a country “steeped in so many doubts, so many divisions”.

This speech will now give way to the legislative elections which will take place on Sunday June 12 and Sunday June 19. But one of the questions everyone is asking: Who will be his next Prime Minister?
