Emmanuel Macron is not yet officially a candidate for the presidential election but the Elysée is worried about his image: the new obsession of the President’s entourage is his record on the left. Thus we saw Emmanuel Macron posting last week on the networks the photo of a post-it to praise the pass-culture: the photo was mocked, diverted, but the Elysée welcomes it. Because the result is there: the PassCulture application was widely downloaded and on Monday February 7, it was still in third position on the AppStore in the “entertainment” category, just after Tik Tok and Netflix. “The culture pass is typically a left-wing idea”enthuses a close friend of the President, who would therefore like to replant the idea that Emmanuel Macron is on the left.

However, this is not necessarily the image that circulates in the country and it is for this reason that those around him want to work on it: in the coming weeks, the Elysée intends to recall the social measures adopted since 2017. “The duplication of CP classes, PMA, the right to be forgotten, the remainder at zero charge, animal welfare”, lists a close friend of Emmanuel Macron. He decrypts: “These are measures that have a real impact on people’s lives.A minister confirms: “Alimonial payments, nobody talks about it, but it responds to the galleys of thousands of families…”

Knowing that today the center-left is the most loyal electoral base for Emmanuel Macron, these votes should not be lacking in April. The challenge is therefore to remember that some of the social promises, those called “left”, have been kept. And even a little more, according to an adviser, who is having fun: “Whatever it costs, the defense of secularism is typically the program of the Socialist Party.” The most striking thing is that the macronie actually imagines herself a little alone in the niche. A member of the government boasts: “No one challenges us on our left!” This will please the five candidates who are precisely targeting this electorate…
