A trip to support the victims. Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will travel to Pas-de-Calais on Tuesday “following the exceptional bad weather which affected the region”, the Elysée announced on Monday, November 13.
Accompanied by his wife, “the Head of State will express his support and that of the entire Nation to the inhabitants affected by the successive episodes of flooding as well as to all the rescue forces mobilized”, added the presidency, confirming information from RTL.
Interministerial cell
At the same time, Matignon announced the convening of an interministerial crisis unit regarding these floods “to coordinate all state services”. It was to meet at the end of the day on Monday, under the leadership of Elisabeth Borne’s chief of staff, the Prime Minister being on a trip to Ireland.
Pas-de-Calais has already suffered storm Ciaran on November 2, record floods on November 7 and intense rainfall on Thursday and Friday. Météo-France forecasts for the week an alternation of calm days followed by rain: showers on Wednesday, calm until Friday then more bad weather until Monday.
