Ukraine hopes to gain broad international support at the summit, laying out the conditions it believes are necessary to end the war against Russia. More than a hundred countries and organizations have committed to participating in this summit, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter urged countries in the Asia-Pacific region to join.
Some heads of state, including US President Joe Biden, have already made it known that they will not make the trip. The United States will nevertheless be represented by American Vice-President Kamala Harris, the White House said on Monday.
