Emmanuel Macron will hold a press conference on Tuesday January 16 at 8:15 p.m. This initiative is part of the “meeting with the nation” announced by the President of the Republic, the Elysée announced on Sunday January 14. The press conference will be broadcast from the Elysée on TF1, France 2 and the news channels.

The previous press conference on this format, intended to allow the President of the Republic to explain generally the course he intends to take for his policy and to answer very broad questions from France internationally, dates back to 25 April 2019, after the “yellow vest” crisis, excluding that given as part of the campaign for his re-election.

A conference before the general policy declaration

After a difficult year 2023, marked by pension reform and the forceps adoption of the immigration bill, the Head of State is trying to breathe new life into his five-year term. Last week he appointed a government led by the youngest Prime Minister in the history of the Republic, Gabriel Attal, and called on his ministers on Friday to be “revolutionaries” and not “managers”.

The next day, Gabriel Attal will bring together all of his ministers at 5 p.m. in Matignon in “work seminar” to prepare in a manner “collegiate” the general policy declaration that each head of government pronounces before Parliament after his appointment, Matignon announced Sunday evening. No date has yet been set for this declaration.
